________and I am a constituent of yours at (intersection). I’m calling because I am outraged with how the city spent our federal CARES funds. It is clear the mayor cannot be trusted to make unilateral decisions about these funds, but you voted to give the mayor that discretion. I am asking that you introduce and/or support legislation to strip the mayor of unilateral decision making power of how future federal relief funds are spent. I also ask that you demand the remaining $68 million of unspent CARES funding is spent on our communities in the form of rental assistance, ensuring housing is liveable, ensuring our houseless neighbors are housed, increased city COVID testing, improved vaccine rollout, contract tracing, mental health care, improved remote learning, proper PPE for workers, and paying people to stay home. I want you to take responsibility for your role as a legislator and actually legislate to help struggling Chicagoans.
